Burnham-On-Sea MP Tessa Munt backs Libya military action

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s MP has this week given her backing to military action in Libya.

Tessa Munt voted in favour of the action during a House of Commons debate on Monday (March 21st).

Her comments come as several countries, including the US, UK and France, are continuing strikes on Libya after the United Nations authorised action to protect civilians from Colonel Gaddafi’s forces.

Tessa said this week: “I am happy with the action. I have had reassurances we are not targeting Gaddafi himself. I am certain we should be helping the Libyan people as long as the Arab League is supportive of it.”

Prime Minister David Cameron told MPs that the resolution specifically rules out an invasion or occupying force, and the point of the military action was to save the lives of civilians.
