Burnham-On-Sea
book shop raises more than £6,000 for charity
More
than £6,000 has been raised for charity in just six months
at a book shop in Burnham-On-Sea.
The
town's Rotary Club operated the popular store at the former Thresher's
Wine Shop in College Street over the summer and autumn.
It
has just closed this week and the volunteers were delighted to
find the earnings had reached a total of £6,200.
After
some expenses for electricity and rates, the remainder of the
cash will be distributed to Rotary local charities and good causes.
Jane
Gibbs, Club Service Committee Chairman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"The Club would like to thank everyone who has supported
this venture, by donating and purchasing the books."
"The
club is also grateful to Threshers and their agents, Abbott &
Frost, for making the premises available."
