Stranded
cow rescued from centre of river near Burnham-On-Sea
A
cow became stranded on a sand bank in the middle of the River
Parrett near Burnham-On-Sea on Tuesday afternoon (October 30th).
Fire
rescue teams were called to Combwich at around 2pm to find the
animal stuck in the middle of the estuary with the tide incoming
around it.
A
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Due to
the fast moving tide, the animal started to float across to the
Pawlett side of the river."
"Fire
crews deployed an inflatable boat, tethered the animal with rescue
lines and rescued the cow from the river. Crews liaised with the
owner of the animal to arrange a safe return."
Firefighters
were accompanied by a specialist animal rescue team at the scene.
