Young Burnham runners to represent Somerset at championships

-

Two young Burnham-On-Sea athletes have been selected to represent the Somerset Schools Cross Country team in the English Schools National Championships this weekend.

Matt Dickinson and Luke Prior from King Alfred School in Highbridge have both been selected to take part in the event this Saturday (17th March).

“This is a fantastic achievement that has taken a lot of hard work. Matt and Luke have trained extremely hard for a number of years and both were recently crowned Somerset Schools County Champions,” the school’s Simon Aylward told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“What makes this selection so special is the fact that the National Championships will be hosted in Somerset, at NAS Merryfield near Ilminster.”

“Therefore, in the same way that our British athletes will benefit in the London Olympics, Matt and Luke will be able to enjoy the advantages of competing in their home county with the home support and we wish them both the very best of luck!”
