Coroner
confirms Dylan Cecil died of drowning in Burnham-On-Sea
An
inquest into the death of four-year-old Dylan Cecil has today
(Tuesday) heard that he drowned after slipping from Burnham-On-Sea's
jetty.
At
a hearing held in Taunton, West Somerset Coroner Michael Rose
said a post-mortem examination had concluded that Dylan died of
drowning.
He
offered his sympathies to the family and said: "There can
be nothing more harrowing for any parent than to witness the death
of a child."
"But
I hope his parents will take comfort from the fact that their
grief is shared by all in the county, especially those in Burnham-On-Sea
and all the emergency services."
The
short hearing was adjourned to a date yet to be set.
Dylan
was on holiday visiting his grandparents when he fell into the
sea on Sunday August 19th.
His
body was found on the beach by a member of the public four days
later near Burnham Sailing Club.
On
Sunday, 400 people joined Dylan's family at St Andrew's Church
in Burnham for a memorial
service, and a minute's
silence was held earlier in the day on the town's seafront.
A
large number of toys, floral bouquets and other items have been
left in memory of Dylan on the town's seafront, as pictured above.
