Burnham
and Berrow golf course is named the best in the west

Burnham
and Berrow Golf Course has this week been named the top course
in the south west and the 37th best in the UK by a sports magazine.
Golf
Monthly's latest issue contains a feature about the top 100
courses in the UK and Ireland in which the Burnham-On-Sea course
is highly praised.
Put
together over a period of two years by assessors, golf clubs,
readers and industry experts, the magazine took into account four
criteria - the quality and test of the course design, condition
and presentation, visual appeal and ambience.
Michael
Blight, Secretary of Burnham & Berrow, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We are delighted to have been ranked so highly."
"The assessors were impressed by the continued high standard
of course maintenance and the changes that we have made to the
course since the last published rankings in 2010; hence moving
five places up the league table."
He
added: "To have all our partner courses in the region - Royal
North Devon, Saunton, St Enodoc and Trevose - ranked in the top
100 is testament to the quality of golf on offer here in the south
west and to be ranked as the best in such company is a credit
to the greens team we have here at Burnham."
The course last year hosted the R&A Boys Championship and
The Brabazon Trophy - for the fifth time and in doing so
become the first course to hold both championships in the same
year.
