Brent Knoll man air-lifted to hospital after being thrown from
horse
A
horse rider was air-lifted to hospital with suspected head injuries
this afternoon (Sunday, May 20th) after being thrown from his
animal near Burnham-On-Sea.
Ambulance
crews and police were called to Burton Row in Brent Knoll at 3pm,
as pictured here, after the man fell off his horse while riding
along the road.
A
nearby resident told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the man, who lives
in the village, had suffered suspected head injuries. "We
heard some noise outside and then the clatter of hooves as the
horse ran off riderless along the road," he said.
The rider initially received treatment at the scene from
ambulance crews before being flown to Bristol's Frenchay Hospital.
A
green Great Western air ambulance landed in a field besides the
road, as pictured here, because the Dorset and Somerset air ambulance
was busy elsewhere.
Police
closed Burton Row for almost two hours while emergency services
were at the scene, directing traffic along alternative roads through
Brent Knoll.
