Plans for Jubilee Family Fun Day gather pace in Burnham-On-Sea

-

A huge Jubilee Family Fun Day is set to take place in Burnham-On-Sea on June 4th.

The free event, which will be held on the playing fields next to the Burnham Area Youth Centre in Cassis Close, will feature live music from local musicians and choirs plus fun races, bouncy castles, a craft tent, face painting, hair braiding, a penalty shoot-out competition, plus displays from various local groups.

There will also be a Royal-themed fancy dress competition and a mural painting competition plus various other games, a raffle and a tombola.

Orgaaniser Tanya Dyer told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It would be great to hear from anyone who is interested in making this a fab day for all. Our fun day will be a non-profit making event, free for the people of Burnham and Highbridge, with any money made from the raffle and tombola going to local groups and charities.”

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge will also hold a Jubilee parade on Saturday June 2nd, which will be in the style of an Olympic opening ceremony, beginning at the town’s Apex car park and finishing at the Pavilion on Burnham seafront where a world record sandcastle building bid will take place on the beach. The attempt will be for the ‘most sandcastles built in one hour’ and will start at approximately 12.30pm. All will be welcome to join in, free of charge. Celebration events will then continue into Marine Cove Gardens with a BBQ, Music and entertainment.
