30 complaints over car park 'boy racers' as barriers are considered
Police
in Burnham-On-Sea have received more than 30 fresh complaints
from residents over late night noise from 'boy racers' in the
town's Morrisons car park, as proposals to install new barriers
to prevent night-time access are considered.
PCSO
Susan Venn-Adams from Burnham Police told a community police meeting
in the town on Wednesday evening (October 10th) that patrols have
been stepped up to try and halt the latest problems.
"We
have received 30 complaints about the noise from cars performing
wheel spins and being driven at speed across the car park,"
she said.
"Police
patrols have been increased around the car park and CCTV coverage
is also being closely watched."
"The introduction of barriers to prevent access
in the car park late at night are also being considered."
She
added: "We are also looking into holding a 'roadshow' there
to try and educate the young drivers and show them how what they
are doing impacts on local residents. We want to work with them
and people living nearby to resolve the issues."
Meanwhile,
residents at Wednesday's community police meeting voted for the
issue to be the number one priority for police in the town over
the coming three months.
Last
year, Burnham-On-Sea.com published video footage from a resident

showing the extent of the problems in the seafront car park, as
