Burnham's world record sandcastle building bid attracts sponsor
Burnham-On-Sea's
Sunspot Amusements has come forward as the main sponsor of the
town's attempt to set a new sandcastle building world record this
Spring.
The
organisers of the event, which is to be held on Saturday June
2nd during Burnham's Jubilee celebrations, issued an appeal for
sponsors last
week and since then the seafront arcade has come forward to
offer financial help.
The
world record bid on Burnham-On-Sea beach will see a large crowd
of people trying to beat the current record of building hundreds
of sandcastles like the one pictured above in just one hour.
The
event is being jointly organised by Burnham Coastguards, BARB,
the RNLI and Burnham Lions, with money raised going to the four
groups.
Sunspot's
manager, Pauline Williams, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We're
happy to be sponsoring such a fun community event as this and
wish everyone involved with the bid lots of luck. We hope lots
of people turn out on the day to join in!"
The record attempt will be held at 12.30pm on the town's beach,
north of the Pavilion, following a parade of schoolchildren from
Highbridge's Apex Park to the seafront. Other local businesses
who wish to contribute can contact the organiser on 07724995631
or email him here.
