Burnham-On-Sea fishmonger is named ‘Best Somerset Food Shop’

-

Staff at a Burnham-On-Sea fishmonger are celebrating this week after being named Somerset’s best food shop of 2012.

Seafoods in Burnham High Street has scooped the sought-after award at the annual Somerset Food and Drink Awards.

Owners Steve and Gaynor Wright told Burnham-On-Sea.com they are “over the moon” to have beaten scores of other independent shops across the county to be announced the overall winner during a ceremony held near Bridgwater.

“We are really delighted to have won – it is a great reward for all the hard work that goes into running Seafoods,” said Steve.

“It’s all the more pleasing since there was some very strong competition from other businesses across Somerset. We thank our loyal customers for voting for us.”

The runners-up in the ‘Best Food Shop of the Year Award’ category were Pumpkin Delicatessen & Café in Wedmore and Pynes of Somerset in North Petherton.

The awards competition, run by Somerset Life magazine, also saw J.P. Baker & Son of Wedmore win the ‘Best Butcher’ award. The ‘2012 Somerset Food Hero’ award went to Lisa Salter of Pumpkin Delicatessen and Café in Wedmore.
