Motorist air-lifted to hospital after crash near Burnham-On-Sea

A woman was air-lifted to hospital on Saturday afternoon following a road accident near Burnham-On-Sea.

Fire crews from Burnham, Street and Bridgwater were called to the A39 at Shapwick shortly after 1.30pm.

"A lady was physically trapped in her car and crews got to work stabilising the vehicle and carrying out roof removal," a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The casualty was left in the hands of ambulance crews and was flown to hospital by air ambulance.
