Busking vicar helps to raise funds for Highbridge church hall repairs

-

A busking vicar has helped to raise hundreds of pounds towards much-needed repairs to a church hall’s roof in Highbridge.

Reverend Sharon Crossman from St John’s Church picked up her guitar and played popular tunes outside the church on Saturday to boost funds for the hall’s roof, which suffered serious storm damage earlier this year, as we reported here.

She played outside the church’s annual summer fair on Saturday, which was well attended by supporters, who visited a number of stalls selling a wide range of items from cakes to books and plants.

Reverend Crossman, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Church Hall roof is still under repair so this year we had hoped for a very sunny day to hold our fair outside.”

“When that seemed a very slim possibility we decided to hold our fair in the beautiful surroundings of St John’s Church. We were well supported and raised over £850 pounds which will all help to secure the roof, replace the electrics and re-decorate so that this popular community resource will soon be fully opened.”

She added that anyone who would like to make donations towards the hall can do so via The Vicarage, Church Street, Highbridge with envelopes clearly marked Church Hall Roof. Cheques should be made payable to PCC St John’s Highbridge.
