Main
road through East Huntspill re-opened after tree comes down

The
main road through East Huntspill was closed by police on Saturday
evening (August 18th) after a large tree came crashing down, bringing
with it telephone wires.
Church
Road was fully blocked for an hour and a half after the incident
at 8pm.
It
is believed that this week's heavy rain and gusty winds had weakened
the tree.
Local
resident Jean Hand told Burnham-On-Sea.com she heard it come down.
"There was a loud crash and when I looked outside I could
see the overhead wires flashing," she said. "The tree
had been dead for some time and was weak."
Nearby
resident Michael Fawcett alerted police and helped divert traffic
around the scene. "It was strange it happened on such a calm
day. Fortunately no-one was near it at the time," he said.
