unveils new plans for low-cost Highbridge petrol station
has this week unveiled brand new plans to build a low-cost petrol
station outside its Highbridge store.

reported here, prompting the scheme to be subsequently withdrawn
the supermarket giant has now made changes to its plans and has
now resubmitted a new application for an eight-pump, automated
proposed petrol station's entrance and exit locations have been
reversed to address road safety concerns.

the roadway into the Caxton Road store, pictured right.
changes come after the original scheme attracted an objection
from Somerset County Council's Transport Development Group which
raised concerns about the "unacceptable" restricted
visibility for motorists leaving the station - a point that has
been addressed in the new scheme.
District Council's planning department has started its consultation
on the new scheme and is welcoming feedback from residents until
