Mayor cuts ribbon to open new shop in Burnham-On-Sea High Street

The Mayor was joined by Minnie Mouse at the opening of a new shop in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea on Wednesday (October 9th).

Cllr Martin Cox led a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the entrance to The Children’s Society shop in The High Street as it opened its doors for the first time.

The prominent premises at 53 The High Street, on the corner of Cross Street, has been empty since Johnsons Dry Cleaners closed last year, as reported here.

The charity’s Val Newbold told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Thank you goes to Cllr Cox and the people of Burnham for such a warm welcome at our very busy opening.”

“We look forward to the continued success of the shop which will enable us to support vulnerable children.”

She added that the organsiation is always looking for new volunteers and donations of stock and provides a free local collection service via 01278 788777.
