River Brue crane-in marks start of Burnham’s annual sailing season

-

Two huge cranes towered over Burnham-On-Sea’s Sailing Club on Saturday morning (March 16th) when 21 boats were hoisted into the River Brue for the town’s annual spring ‘crane-in’.

The annual tradition is arranged each Spring by the Sailing Club when the yachts are lifted out of the boat yard and into the river in time for the beginning of the sailing season.

It was an early start for the club’s members, with the operation to move the boats getting underway at 5.30am to fit in with the tide times.

“We’ve had good conditions for the event and everything seemed to go smoothly,” club member John Clist told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
