Highbridge students visit 10 Downing Street and Parliament

-

A group of students from the Burnham-On-Sea area have visited the most famous street in Britain.

The Year 12 and 13 Public Services groups from Highbridge’s King Alfred School visited Number 10 Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament in a special visit arranged with local MP Tessa Munt.

“The visit was an opportunity for the students to consolidate their understanding of the role of government and to find out how laws are created,” teacher Mark Tipler told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“As part of the visit, the students and teachers were given a guided tour of Westminster Hall and the House of Lords. They then had an opportunity to joining their local MP Tessa Munt for a Q&A session which was greatly appreciated by the students.”

“The highlight of the day was Tessa taking the group to Downing Street and arranging for some photograph on the steps of number 10! This was an experience that the students and staff will never forget.”

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Tessa and her team for being so accommodating and helping to arrange the day.”
