Burnham-On-Sea takes centre stage for production of new short film

-

Filming has been completed this week for a new short film that has been shot in Burnham-On-Sea by two young aspiring local filmmakers.

Jake Hodge and Jessie Hawkes have been filming their latest drama production ‘Singing Blues’ which will they hope will be screened at film festivals across the world.

The film features several local actors and includes scenes shot in Berrow, Burnham Lympsham and Bridgwater.

The film is the second by the Burnham pair, who also produced a war-themed film on Brean Down called 256 Steps which was shown at the 2012 London Independent Film Festival.

Jake said: “Filming has gone beyond expectations. The talent from the cast and crew are exceptional! We have a really great team for this years’ short film. 256 steps is really nothing compared to what this film is going to be.”

The film is set to be released in late February and will be available on video sharing website YouTube and then screened at several film festivals over the coming year.

Local actress Corrine Priest headlines the production and Jessie added: “When I wrote the script I never anticipated that my vision would become a reality. This has been by far the best team I have worked with. Corrine is an outstanding actress, playing the lead role in Singing Blues.”

“Corrine has been lucky enough to gain a place at the prestigious London School of Musical Theatre but needs your help to fundraise the tuition fee. Corrine needs to raise £13,000 so please donate anything you can to help support her dream at www.corrinepriest.doomby.com.”
