Seafront flower beds in Burnham not being removed, says council

-

Flower beds along Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront are not being permanently removed, Sedgemoor District Council has reassured residents this week.

It comes after residents expressed concern that the council’s flower beds along the South Esplanade seafront had been levelled in recent days, as pictured here.

Claire Faun, district council spokeswoman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There were some old brickwork borders surrounding the flower beds which over the years have been vandalised and were looking an eyesore.”

“We have removed the brickwork and levelled the beds. A short period of settling down is required. Rest assured that the beds will be replanted very shortly and the fabulous flower displays will be as normal.”

Several users of Burnham-On-Sea.com’s discussion forums had raised concerns about the work, fearing the beds were being permanently removed.
