Competition launched to find talented young musicians and bands

-

The organisers of a popular Healing Weekend Festival in East Huntspill have launched a competition to find a young up-and-coming band or musician to play on the main stage at the 2013 event this July.

Organisers Ron Tropman and Elaine Fenton are seeking young musical talent to play at The Healing Weekend, which runs from 12-14 July at Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre.

Elaine told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “2013 will be our fifth year and we are really pleased to see how the event has grown. Not only do we help raise funds for Secret World Wildlife Rescue, who do such wonderful work, but the event brings many visitors to the area each summer, benefitting many local businesses.”

“It is the highlight of the year for many people now and is popular with both locals and those from across the UK and beyond – including Australia, Spain, Canada and Holland. So, to celebrate our success, and our 5th birthday, we’d love to offer the opportunity for a local Band/Musician to have the chance to play to our audience on our main stage. With an audience of up to 400 people, it’s a great way of getting heard for the Band/Musician lucky enough to be chosen.”

Elaine and Ron will be giving the band a free stand at the event, so there will be plenty of opportunity to sell CDs and promote their music to the many visitors who attend.

If you would like to be considered, all you have to do is send a CD to Elaine or Ron, or easier still, email a link with your music to elainefenton@live.co.uk or ron@westwardrise.com and all entries will be acknowledged with the winner being announced shortly after 1st May 2013.

The Healing Weekend, from 12-14 July, is a fabulous festival with something for all the family. There are more than 170 stands, around 90 workshops and live performances, plus two great evening shows. For our younger visitors, there will be an Enchanted Kingdom, full of fun and with lots to do with pixies and fairies.

With a wonderful array of food, and camping also available, it’s an event not to miss. For up to date information about the event, which please visit www.thehealingweekend.co.uk or if you have any general enquiries, please get in touch with Elaine on 01736 366579 or email as above. Camping enquiries should be directed to Secret World at camping@secretworld.org
