A popular Burnham-On-Sea folk band is set to launch its first album after finishing work in the recording studios this week.

Folk band Rustique – comprising Burnham residents Rob Brain, Greg Aylmer, Pete Beach, Chris Wing and John Clist – has just returned from Beehive Studios where it has been working on the album, called ‘Kick’n the Rust Bucket’.

Rustique are a five piece band playing Mandolin, Fiddle, Guitar, Accordion, Penny Whistle and Banjo.

The band saty they take music from the ‘rust-bucket’ of the past and, in their words, “kick it into relevancy for today”.

“The key criteria is that the audience must want to get up and dance, and want to sing along with us,” lead singer Pete Beach told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The group – who have extended their line-up to include an additional guitar, plus fiddle and banjo – will be playing at this weekend’s Burnham Cider Festival at the Ritz Social Club in Victoria Street. They will perform on Sunday 29th September from 2pm.

Pete added: “We are having a busy week this week but we are looking forward to playing at the Ritz Cider Festival. Our style of music will be well suited to the event.”

The band blend Irish, Cajun, Bluegrass and Skiffle, and have been gaining in reputation in the area. More information can be found at http://www.rustique-music.com
