Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove announces plans for scarecrow day

-

The Friends of Marine Cove in Burnham-On-Sea haas this week appealed for donations of unwanted clothing and straw material for a unique scarecrow event being planned for the summer.

The seafront gardens will be hosting a sea-themed Scarecrow Day on July 6th when residents will be invited to create their own scarecrow or fisherman for display at the event.

Jacqui Strong, Marine Cove Community Gardener, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Despite sounding very novel this is not a new idea, similar things happen in many parts of the country. The Friends of Marine Cove wanted to be involved this year linking the garden, a nautical theme and as a way of encouraging volunteers of all ages to make something, and get together, in the garden.”

To donate materials, contact Sedgemoor District Council’s community development team on 0845 4082540 and speak to Jacqui Strong, Marine Cove community gardener.

Meanwhile, the next event at Marine Cove will be an Easter Egg Hunt taking place on March 30th (Easter Saturday) from 10am-2pm.
