Fundraising tractor run sets off from Burnham-On-Sea to Land’s End

-

Three historic Massey Ferguson tractors set off from Burnham-On-Sea at the start of a week-long fundraising journey to Land’s End on Thursday (August 22nd).

The drivers – Alan Rawles, Colin Durston and Gordon Cox – left Burnham’s Morrisons car park on the town’s seafront to travel to the Cornish landmark and back in aid of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

They were waved off by family, friends and fellow members of Burnham Rotary Club, which is organising the journey.

The tractors are travelling to Barnstable and then on to Newquay before reaching Land’s End. They will return through Falmouth, Dartmouth, Exmouth, Weymouth and then head north to Burnham. They are scheduled to return on Wednesday August 28th.

The event is being organised by the Rotary Club’s vice-president Ashley Edwards and past-president Colin Durston. Sponsorship so far has raised more than £4,500 for the air ambulance.

Colin says the air ambulance is his favourite charity, since he probably owes his life to it following an accident on his farm some 10 years ago.
