clean-up gets underway in Brean and Berrow this weekend
beach clean-up operation is being held in Brean and Berrow this
weekend as part of a nationwide initiative to rid the UK's beaches
autumn beach clean is being held at Berrow today (Saturday) and
Brean on Sunday with volunteers scouring the sand for litter and
Marine Conservation Society has organised the events, which are
being supported by Sedgemoor District Council which is providing
bags and litter picking equipment.
event on Berrow Beach will be held from 2-4pm, meeting on the
beach next to the entrance for cars on the beach.
event on Brean Beach will take place from 10am-12 noon, starting
on the sands opposite the Warren Farm Holiday Centre. Volunteers
Bell, MCS Campaigns Manager, says: "Fifty years ago, beach
litter hardly existed. Today its a serious environmental
concern. We created this problem and the solution is in our hands.
The event is still open to volunteers. You can help us deliver
a vision of what the future could be like for the British seaside
if we turned the tide on litter."
