beach clean-up operation was held in Brean and Berrow at the weekend
during a nationwide initiative to rid the UK's beaches of litter.

Brean on Sunday with volunteers scouring the sand for litter and
Marine Conservation Society organised the events, which were supported
by Sedgemoor District Council, who provided bags and litter-picking
Bell, MCS Campaigns Manager, says: "Fifty years ago, beach
litter hardly existed. Today its a serious environmental
concern. We created this problem and the solution is in our hands."
