Pictured: Brean Down turns blue as bluebells burst into full bloom

Mild temperatures and a wet winter have led to record numbers of bluebells on Brean Down.

The grassy slopes of Brean Down have been transformed into a sea of blue, a pictured here.

Thousands of bluebells have burst into full bloom on the northern slopes of the rocky peninsula in recent days, as pictured here.

Walkers and photographers have been taking advantage of the good weather to enjoy the wild flowers – voted Britain’s most popular wild flower in a nationwide poll – at their very best.

“It’s a fantastic display this year – one of the best ever,” National Trust warden Paul Marsh told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The nothern side of the Down is slightly more sheltered than the south and there is a deeper soil cover there too, making perfect conditions for the flowers.
