Burnham-On-Sea traders boosted by busy Easter holiday week

-

Burnham-On-Sea businesses enjoyed a bumper Easter holiday thanks to an influx of visitors heading to the town.

Temperatures reached 18.9°C (66.0°F) on Bank Holiday Monday with beaches in Burnham, Brean and Berrow busy during the first main holiday of the year.

While Easter Day was a wash-out with torrential rain, the area enjoyed bright weather for the majority of the holiday period.

Shops in Burnham town centre were busy with many reporting brisk trade, said Burnham Chamber of Trade.

Among them was Jess Phillips at Bastins, who told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s been a good Easter for us with a busy week of trade.”

Sylvia Poole at The Front Parlour Cafe on the seafront agreed: “We’ve seen lots of visitors apart from when the heavens opened on Sunday. Overall, though, it’s been very positive.”

Louise Parkin at The Pavilion added: “It’s been a very good week of Easter trade for us. We’ve been really busy – let’s hope the summer continues like this.”

And Ian Jefferies, manager at Burnham’s BIARS tourist information centre, added: “Tourism businssess and accommodation providers in the Burnham area seem to have been thriving over the Easter holiday period from the feedback we’ve had. We’ve also seen many coaches with extra visitors to further boost the town.”
