Burnham fundraising appeal for Somerset flood victims is launched

-

A fundraising appeal has been launched in Burnham-On-Sea for local people to donate cash to those affected by flooding across Somerset.

Burnham Lions Club is co-ordinating the appeal, which aims to raise funds for those worst hit by the continuing floods.

“The funds will be used for such items as emergency repairs, cleaning, clothing, drying and heating equipment, kitchen equipment, beds and bedding. The list is not exhaustive but gives a good idea of what’s needed,” Burnham Lions President Les Barber told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

He added: “Burnham Lions, with other clubs in the district, is launching the appeal for funds and those wishing to donate can do so by dropping donations into the collecting buckets in Bessies Sweet Shoppe in Burnham High Street.”

He added that Lions Clubs in the district have also been granted £10,000 towards delivering flood relief on the Somerset Levels.
