Highbridge groups urged to claim slice of government grant funding

Groups in Highbridge have this week been urged to claim cash available from a grant funding organisation in the town.

Thousands of pounds worth of grants are being distributed in the town by 'Community First for Highbridge' using central government funding.

"There is still a little cash left in the fund and local applications are invited. If you have already been a beneficiary but have a second - or even a third - project different from your previous applications, groups can complete an 'expression of interest' and we will examine it on its merits," said a spokesman.

"We do not want to return unspent money back to central government – this money is for Highbridge voluntary groups large and small."

Community First is funded by the OCS, part of the Cabinet Office, on behalf of the Government and delivered by CDF, in partnership with several other organisations.

Burnham and Highridge's BAY Centre is among the local groups which have benefited from grants from the organisation. Mike Lang, Chair of the BAY Centre, pictured with Highbridge panel Chairman James Heappey, says the centre's kitchen has recently been improved thanks to £500 of funding from the organisation, match-funded by Co-op Funeral Services.
