boost from Lloyds Bank for Burnham-On-Sea
of Burnham-On-Sea Swimming Club are celebrating after being awarded
£3,000 in the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2014.
Following votes from members of the public, the club has been
awarded a grant from Lloyds to enable it to continue doing positive
work in the community.
The club, which is based at Brean Splash, runs a learn to swim
programme and a competitive swimming club to enable children learn
to swim and continue swimming into adult life.
Community Fund Award will enable the club to train its young volunteers
who have already given hours of their time volunteering and qualify
them with teaching and coaching qualifications. It will also help
to subsidise new poolside kit for swimmers.
purchase of the training and equipment will enable the club to
keep its monthly swimming fees low and thereby benefit all club
swimmers and also make it more accessible to the wider community.
Chairperson Sally Plume told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The Lloyds
Bank Community Fund will make a huge difference to Burnham-On-Sea
Swimming Club by enabling us to keep our monthly membership fees
low benefiting all our swimmers, we will also have new equipment,
newly trained and qualified workforce and a smart new kit for
swimmers to be proud to wear and represent the club, this will
simply make a difference to the lives of hundreds of young people
in Burnham-on-Sea and the surrounding area."
Lloyds Bank Community Fund was set up to help local people across
England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and
Isle of Man to have a positive impact at the heart of their community
by giving grants to 1,400 local good causes in 350 communities.
Nearly 1.5 million votes were cast for good causes across the
country during the voting which took place between 2nd September
and 10th October.
