A father and son from near Burnham-On-Sea have swept away the competition to become the UK’s top land yachting duo.
Derek George from Watchfield has won the 2014 British Land Sailing Championships in the Standart Class.
The British Championships have taken place over six national regattas during the past year, culminating with the latest event in Brean.
Derek’s son, Craig, took second place in the championships and the pair also took first and second places in the Brean Regatta.
“The two only began sailing in 2010 at Brean Landyacht Club, so they’ve really taken to the sport quickly and done incredibly well,” said a club spokesman.
Over the last year the two have even travelled to Belgium and France, representing Great Britain in European events.
