Berrow Beach has been transformed into a movie set this week as a feature film about war-time Jersey is shot there.

The film called ‘Another Mother’s Son’ is being filmed on the beach with several stars taking part in the filming.

The cast includes British acting luminaries Jenny Seagrove, John Hannah, Amanda Abbington, Peter Wight and Susan Hampshire, alongside musician, stage and screen performer, Ronan Keating.

The movie by Bill Kenwright Films tells the emotional true story of Jersey resident Louisa Gould, who sheltered a Russian prisoner of war during the German occupation of Jersey in WWII and hid him over the course of the conflict.

In the film, the tension mounts as it becomes clear that Churchill will not risk an assault to re-capture the British soil, and the island-community spirit begins to fray under pressures of hunger, occupation and divided loyalty. Against this backdrop, Louisa fights to preserve her family’s sense of humanity and to protect the Russian boy as if he were her own.

A Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Its great news that Berrow Beach has been selected once more as a location for such a prestigious feature film.”

“As an authority, we work hard to attract film and TV production companies to use some of the naturally beautiful backdrops available in the district and are delighted that Bill Kenwright Films have chosen Berrow.”

Bill Kenwright is a leading West End theatre producer and film producer and is also the Chairman of Everton Football Club.
