Burnham town centre in focus at Neighbourhood Plan meeting

Work to produce a new Neighbourhood Plan for Burnham-On-Sea is continuing to progress well with a meeting held this week to discuss the future shape of the town centre.

The Neighbourhood Planning Burnham Town Centre group met on Thursday (February 19th) when members discussed potential redevelopment sites and also debated the possible introduction of colour schemes for shops in the town centre.

Phil Harvey, the Chairman of the group, said: "So far, we have made good progress. We're not unanimous on every issue but we will refine the document after consultations have taken place."

"These may produce changes and may result in additions or deletions. At the end of the day, it is the residents of the area who will make their views known and it is these which will appear in the final report."

The group will hold a town centre walkabout next month, with the draft town centre strategy in hand, to evaluate it on the ground. This will be held at 11am on Saturday March 7th, meeting outside St Andrew's Church.

This week's meeting was attended by representatives of Burnham Chamber of Trade, Sedgemoor District Council, the Town Council, local businesses and several residents. The next meeting of the group will be at 7pm on Thursday 19th March at Burnham Community Centre.
