Fundraising ball will help buy vital Somerset radiotherapy equipment

The hospital’s Beacon Centre is in need of a new £500,000 scanner to replace its current one which is coming to the end of its life. Replacement in 2017 is essential if they are to avoid patients having to travel to Bristol in the future for this first stage in radiotherapy treatment.

“As many of us have some connection with either family, friends, or someone we know that has or has had cancer and needed treatment from the Beacon Centre, we feel that raising funds for S.U.R.E is a great way of helping to stop this awful disease, especially for those that are close to home and our hearts,” said a spokesman.

The charity ball is being held at Rookery Manor Hotel, right, on Friday 16th October with tickets priced £30 per person to include a three course meal.

There will be a red carpet arrival, photographs on entry, a tombola, an auction, and live band entertainment from local acts Pearl and The Diamond Geezers.

Dress code will be formal evening wear, which is a great excuse for all the ladies to get dressed up!

The organisers are currently accepting tombola and auction prizes to offer alongside the existing prizes which include two Standard Class Anytime Return First Great Western Train Tickets to anywhere on the First Great Western network line.

Tickets are available by calling 07795 173763 or 01278 780774.
