-

The air ambulance landed on the M5 motorway at Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday afternoon (July 30th) to help several people after a crash.

Two fire engines from Burnham-On-Sea and one from Bridgwater attended the crash involving two vehicles on the northbound carriageway between junctions 22 – 21 at 12.55pm.

The incident, which led to the M5 being temporarily closed, caused more than 11 miles of tailbacks.

A family of five was trapped inside one of the vehicles and the fire crews worked alongside Police and Ambulance staff to release two adults and three young children using hydraulic cutting equipment.

The green Great Western Air Ambulance pictured here landed on the southbound carriageway to help those injured. It was understood that none of the injuries had been life-threatening.
