Peregrine falcon spotted on Stert Island for first time this year

A peregrine falcon has been seen on Stert Island, opposite Burnham-On-Sea, for the first time in almost a year.

Keen bird watcher Greg Dye-Hodge Beardsley spotted the bird through his telescope this week from Burnham's South Esplanade.

"The bird is a wonderful sight - I hadn't seen him since last autumn despite looking out for one many times in recent months," Greg told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

"It's great to see him back on the island, sat on a log of wood surveying the island and beach around him."

"Keen bird watchers often travel for many miles to see these marvellous birds, so we may see an increase in visitors with telescopes and long legs cameras over the coming days."

Six years ago, Greg spotted the rare sight of a seal on Stert Island.
