New £10,000 play area set to open near Burnham-On-Sea

-

A brand new £10,000 play area is set to open near Burnham-On-Sea this week.

Works to install a brand new children’s play area with six items of equipment in Joseph’s Pound in Rooksbridge are now complete.

The new play area includes an inclusive basket swing, one flat swing for juniors, one cradle swing for toddlers, a 4-child see-saw, buggy springy and inclusive dish roundabout.

The play area, which cost £10,000, was funded by RLT2 Developer Contributions for Outdoor Play held by Sedgemoor District Council. It will officially open at 2pm on Tuesday 26th July.

In addition, £6,200 in RLT3 Developer Contributions for Sport was awarded in January 2014 to the same area for ground preparation costs to install a football pitch, goalposts, seating, signage and fencing.

Sam Taylor, a spokeswoman for Sedgemoor, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “onsultation with the local community was carried out by East Brent Council and several play area designs were drafted for local resident’s consideration.”

“Sedgemoor District Council worked closely with East Brent Parish Council to procure the contract and project manage the works. We are really pleased with the new play area and hope the local community enjoy using it.”
