Burnham-On-Sea club hosts 'Great British Tennis Weekend' events

Scores of tennis players of all ages flocked to Burnham-On-Sea's Avenue Tennis Club at the weekend for an event to mark the 2016 Great British Tennis Weekend.

Julie Williams, Head Coach at the club, said it had been a very successful afternoon with many new faces coming along to try out the sport.

Another Great British Tennis Weekend open afternoon will be held on Saturday 16th July from 1pm which will coincide with the Great Britain Davis Cup tie against Serbia when a TV will be setup for all to follow the match.

Tennis will again be free, with courts available for those who want to come and play or socialise. The 'JW Tennis' coaches will be on hand to offer introductory sessions to families, children and adults.

This Saturday, the club will host a Somerset 10u Team Tennis competition from 1pm, with teams from Taunton, Yeovil, Cheddar and The Avenue competing to see who will be Somerset Champions.

Sedgemoor Primary Schools Tennis Cup Competition year 3&4 will also take place on June 7th at the club from 1pm -4.30pm.

The club's head coach Julie Williams is a fully licensed level-4 senior performance coach who previously managed South Wales as tennis development manager for the national governing body for ten years.
