Berrow Football Club cash will help create coaching opportunities

-

A football club near Burnham-On-Sea has received £4,800 to drive up participation.

Berrow Junior Football Club has received the money from the Somerset Community Foundation, and says it will use the funds to give young people the chance to lead the club.

The club’s organisers want to provide an academy for footballers aged 4-8 plus coaching opportunities for those aged 16 and above.

Seven young people will also be trained to become FA-qualified coaches.

Allison Ward from Berrow Juniors said: “Our club has a great team of people working within it and we are providing sport for the young people in our teams.”

“However, we can do more and we know it would be great if our young people could direct and steer the club.”

“We also know that to grow as a club we need to have a rock steady team of coaches and a strong offer for our youngest players. This grant sets both things in motion.”
