Burnham-On-Sea is renamed ‘Bubble-On-Sea’ for charity event!

Keen-eyed motorists heading into Burnham-On-Sea will have noticed the town has a new name this week, according to a road sign.

With just days left until Weston Hospicecare’s first-ever Bubble Rush run on Saturday 5th August in Apex Park, the Burnham-On-Sea welcome sign on Queen’s Drive has been given a little makeover.

Together with members of the Weston Hospicecare fundraising team, Mayor Bill Hancock and his wife, Mayoress Frances Hancock, posed in front of the newly decorated sign as it welcomed motorists to Bubble-On-Sea.

“We’re really pleased to host an event in Burnham-On-Sea, as our clinical team does a lot of work to support dozens of patients and even more family members in the area,” Kelsey Dehaney, event coordinator at Weston Hospicecare, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We hope lots of people will come out to support the hospice by taking part and raising sponsorship with the Bubble Rush!”

The team at Weston Hospicecare approached the town councillors of Burnham with the idea, and the Mayor was happy to get involved.

“From personal experience, I know how important the care and support that hospices provide is,” said Cllr Bill Hancock.

“The work that the hospice does is marvellous, and we’re pleased to support their efforts however we can.”

Although online registrations for the event have now closed, those interested in coming along to the Bubble Rush are encouraged to call 01934 423 960 to sign up.

Alternatively, there will be spots available for those who wish to sign up on the day.

“The Bubble Rush is a fun 5K walk, run or toddle through four different coloured Bubble Stations,” added Kelsey. “With the weather set to be nice for the weekend, we’re sure participants will have a brilliant time — all while helping to support a great cause!”

Weston Hospicecare was founded by the community in 1989 and provides physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual care and support to both local people affected by life-limiting illnesses and to their loved ones.

It supports local people in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset and the border areas of Somerset, providing a safe haven and source of comfort to those who need it.
