Burnham United FC
fundraising sports match featuring Burnham-On-Sea's best rugby and
football players will be held on Sunday morning (December 31st)
to raise funds for Burnham-On-Sea's football club, Burnham United
AFC, following a major burglary.
Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported, thieves
broke into the Burnham football club building in Cassis Close,
stealing valuable equipment and cash - and leaving a trail of damage.
United AFC will take on Burnham RFC in a 'football vs rugby' match
at 11am at the Cassis Close sports ground on Sunday, with all proceeds
going to help raise funds and morale for the club.
United AFC has thanked the local community for its "truly overwhelming
support" after the burglary.
Counsell, Chairman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The support we've
received locally and from right across the south west has just been
amazing since the break-in, with messages from as far afield as
Newquay and Lyme Regis. We will get everything sorted and will come
back stronger than ever."
intruders gained access through the rear of the building, causing
significant damage to the shutter on the back door.
