Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club member heading to Buckingham Palace

A Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club member has been invited to Buckingham Palace this month as Lions Clubs of the British Isles celebrate their 100th anniversary.

Colin Rufus, pictured left with Burnham Lions Club member Roger Tolley, will be representing Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club at a reception at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday 28th February.

The Lions Patron, the Countess of Wessex, is hosting the event to help Lions Clubs across the country celebrate.

A spokesman told "We are delighted that our Patron, HRH The Countess of Wessex, will be hosting a reception at Buckingham Palace and Colin will be representing us."

"Colin will be joining members from across the British Isles at the Centenary Reception, together with the organisations' charity partners."

"Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club help their local community through fundraising and organising events such as the annual Christmas collection at some of our local supermarkets, a recent quiz at the Hobbs Boat Inn, raising funds for local charities such as The Children’s Hospice South West, In Charley’s Memory, and the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Foodbank."

Colin says it will be a "great honour" to attend the event on behalf of the Burnham club.
