High winds and heavy rain set to sweep into Burnham-On-Sea today

Heavy rain and strong winds are set to sweep through the Burnham-On-Sea area today (Friday).

Storm Callum will bring a very wet and windy start to the day for commuters with some potentially difficult driving conditions.

Wind and rain warnings have been issued by the Met Office for the region, with gusts of wind expected up to 60mph.

Forecasters predict heavy rain and showers for much of the day, leading to surface water on roads.

The Environment Agency says flooding is possible along the coastline at higgh tide as low pressure will cause sea levels to be higher than forecast in tide tables.

Saturday is also forecast to be a breezy day with further showers of rain in the Burnham-On-Sea area. Sunday is predicted to be dry with periods of sunshine.
