Burnham seafront shelters hit by more vandalism

-

Burnham-On-Sea has been hit by a new wave of petty vandalism this week with the town’s Marine Cove gardens and seafront being targeted.

Vandals attacked the boarded-up seafront shelters in Marine Cove by removing roof tiles from the top of the buildings, as pictured here.

Scores of the broken tiles were left scattered around the gardens.

Burnham-On-Sea police are examining CCTV footage to see whether it holds any clues about the identity of the criminals.

Burnham-On-Sea.com reported earlier this month how Sedgemoor Distrrict Council had invested £5,000 in upgrading the CCTV camera at Marine Cove to help police tackle vandalism. It comes after the shelters were boarded following several attacks during January.

Meanwhile, in a separate attack, wooden benches along the southern Esplanade have also been damaged this week, with repairs expected to run into hundreds of pounds.
