Burnham-On-Sea area set to see more heavy rain today, warns Met Office

-

A yellow weather warning has been issued today (Thursday January 4th) for more heavy rainfall raising risk of localised surface flooding.

The Met Office yellow warning is in place from 12 noon until 3am on Friday as the spell of torrential rain falls onto already saturated ground.

The Burnham-On-Sea weather forecast shows the heaviest rainfall in our area will be between 3pm and 7pm today.

A Met Office spokesperson says: “A spell of rain is expected to move northeast across southern parts of England, clearing during Thursday night.”

“The track of the heaviest rainfall remains very uncertain, but there is a chance of 20-30 mm falling in 6-9 hours across a portion of the warning area, with a few places perhaps seeing 40-50 mm.”

“Impacts are more likely due to the current very wet ground across the region.”

The conditions may lead to surface water flooding and travel disruption, says the Met Office.
