Burnham-On-Sea’s former Liberal Democrat MP Tessa Munt has welcomed the election of Jo Swinson as the new leader of the party.
Jo Swinson beat Sir Ed Davey to become the leader of the party in a poll of party members on Monday (July 22nd).
Talking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, Tessa Munt gave her reaction to the news: “I’m so pleased and excited for her – she will be a breath of fresh air to politics as the first woman to lead the Lib Dems.”
“She is an experienced leader who knows the Burnham-On-Sea area well, having recently visited and she will be back again soon.”
Ms Swinson is pictured during her visit to Burnham-On-Sea during April, as reported here. Tessa Munt was recently selected as the Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for the next election.
