Coastguards from Burnham-On-Sea conducted a search of Brean Down for a man reported to be in a distressed state on Sunday evening (June 14th).

Amid concern for the man’s welfare, a police helicopter was also flown in from Portishead to join the search during the late afternoon and early evening.

“The middle-aged man was eventually found safely following a two-hour search that focussed on the entrance to the River Axe estuary at the eastern end of Brean Down,” a Coastguard spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
