Missing dogs reunited with owners by Coastguards on Brean Down

-

Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards carried out a search of Brean Down on Wednesday evening (December 5th) in a hunt for two missing dogs.

The team of eight Coastguards were concerned that the owners of the two beagles might put themselves at risk by searching for the missing animals in the darkness.

A four-hour search operation followed and the incident came to an end when two climbers were sent down the side of the Down to reach the animals with help from two Weston lifeboats.

Both dogs were taken down onto the beach and were then reunited with their grateful owners.

One of the beagles had suffered a damaged foot and was transported to the vets for treatment.

“The owners had been walking their dogs along the beach when they ran up the cliffs after a goat,” Burnham Coastguard Officer Steve Bird told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The owners were incredibly grateful when we reunited the pets with them – it was a very happy ending.”
