Coastguards and BARB in night search for missing mother and son

-

Burnham Coastguards and crews from BARB Search & Rescue were called out by police out in the early hours of today (Wednesday) to search for a missing mother and son.

The crews were called to Berrow at 12.30am to conduct a search of the dunes following a sighting of two people matching their description seen camping there.

Assisted by the police helicopter overhead, the 15 crewmembers searched the beach and sands dunes until around 2am.

“A mother and child were found in the dunes but these were not the people we were looking for,” said a police spokesman.

“We are now continuing our search and are still looking for any information that might be able to assist us in locating the woman and child.”

Rebecca Minnock, 35, and her three year-old son Ethan disappeared from their home in the town two weeks ago, and are being sought by police, as reported here.

The pair, who are from Highbridge, have gone missing after a court ruled the boy should live with his father.
